The Brown Basilisk or Striped Basilisk (Basiliscus vittatus)

Cherengeca is the local name for this leguan.

Basilisks have large hind feet, long toes, and sharp claws. They are day-active. Adults reach beween 30 cm and 60 cm in length. As you can see in the photos, they are very hard to detect because of their outstanding camouflage.
