Painted wood turtle or Ornate wood turtle (Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima)

The Painted wood turtle or Ornate wood turtle (Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima) is a turtle species of the Rhinoclemmys genus in the family Geoemydidae. It is found in Mexico (from Sonora southwards) and Central America, down to Costa Rica. There are four recognized subspecies:

• Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima incisa
• Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima manni
• Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima pulcherrima
• Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima rogerbarbouri

Our turtles are Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima incisa. The spanish name is: Tortuga de madera. The german name is: Pracht-Erdschildkröte.
